You're not alone

Sometimes there's no substitute for an understanding human voice. Speaking to someone who understands your loss can make a difference. Fortunately, they're out there, staffing pet-loss support lines at some of the nation's most prestigious veterinary schools and colleges and elsewhere.

These are wonderful programs, and they're free for the cost of the call. (Some have toll-free numbers. If you call during off hours, most will call you back collect.) In addition to a sympathetic ear, these programs offer additional resources such as articles that you may find helpful.
