Pegi was born in Southern California and grew up both there and in Minnesota. She studied English, journalism, and creative writing, and wrote for local newspapers. Pegi settled in northern Nevada near the California border with her husband, two kids, and many subsequent generations of horses, dogs, cats, and a couple of opinionated parrots. When not feeding all those animals, she spends her free time reading mystery novels, writing fiction, and watercolor painting.
