With a career spanning four decades in veterinary medicine and animal behavior, Pat Koven, LVT, KPA-CTP, currently serves as the Behavior Educational Content Developer at Veterinary Information Network®. Pat combines her medical background with behavioral science, earning her designation as a Certified Training Partner from the Karen Pryor Academy in 2018.

Pat is the owner of Haulin’ Aus, Inc., where she and her team offer private behavior consultations and a variety of specialized classes to clients worldwide. Her extensive experience includes training staff in clinical skills and transforming shelter operations. By developing reward-based training programs and less stressful behavior evaluations, Pat helped increase adoption rates and reduce the time animals spent in shelters.

Driven by a passion for animal and caregiver education and pet-assisted therapy, Pat serves as a Chapter Leader for Love on a Leash in Maine. There, she supervises more than 40 volunteers and visits nursing homes, hospitals, and libraries with her Australian shepherd, Willy. Pat coauthored the Therapy Dog Team Training Course for the Karen Pryor Academy, solidifying her commitment to positive reinforcement methods.
