Course Information:
This presentation will focus on causes of FLUTD (feline lower urinary tract disease), evidence based management, the veterinary technicians’ role in producing a positive outcome, and communication with the cat owner. New nutrients and nutritional management options, specifically relating to FIC (feline idiopathic cystitis) and stress in cats, will be discussed.
- Describe the disease conditions of which FLUTD is comprised.
- Understand and apply nutritional management strategies for managing FLUTD.
- Identify nutrients which aid in the management of FIC.
- Examine evidence relating to efficacy of management of FLUTD and FIC.
- Explain FLUTD/FIC management techniques with feline owners.
RACE Accreditation: This program has been submitted (but is not yet approved) for 1.5 hours of continuing education credit in jurisdictions which recognize RACE approval.

RTS Description: Upon completion of this session, the participant will be able to describe the disease conditions of which FLUTD is comprised, understand and apply nutritional management strategies for managing FLUTD, identify nutrients which aid in the management of FIC, examine evidence relating to efficacy of management of FLUTD/FIC, and explain management techniques with feline owners.
