VIN Presenter is a tool that allows you to view multiple graphics that are uploaded to the message boards (without having to click on each thread) and is used in our Unity classroom/chatroom during CE courses or Rounds presentations. There are many options within the VIN Presenter and we will explain each one here.
When you are looking at a message board thread that has attachments uploaded such as pictures or PDF files, you will now see an option that says “slideshow”.
Slideshow pic
If you click on “slideshow”, all files that are uploaded within that thread will open in the VIN Presenter.
If the slide is large, you will see scroll bars on the right hand side of the screen or at the bottom perhaps. There are directional arrows near the bottom of the VIN Presenter that you can use to go to the next slide, the last slide and go back. There is a red box around those arrows in the graphic below.
Menu
If you click on menu, you will see many options.
We will go through these features one by one here.
Zoom In
This feature is used to “zoom in” on one specific area of a picture such as a radiograph that may be posted. You can access Zoom In either from the menu or from the icon on VIN Presenter that is shown in the graphic below. When you click on Zoom In, you will get a smaller box where you can click on that box to choose the area you wish to zoom in on. You can move this box around by clicking and dragging (clicking the mouse and holding down while you move it) to the area you wish to look at on the picture.
The Zoom In feature is not available on all slides- it is dependent on the actual size of the file that was uploaded.
To turn the Zoom In feature off you can click the red “X” within the little box or click on the area pictured below to turn the navigator off.
Navigator On does the same thing basically as Zoom In; except Navigator On is available on all slides where Zoom In may not be (depending on file size).
Image Adjustments
You can access this either from the menu or from the icon that is on the VIN Presenter. You can use this feature to adjust contrast, brightness, color saturation, grayscale or invert the image. Advanced controls give you more options for adjusting color in the picture. This is a feature you may want to use if someone posts a radiograph or you have slides of radiographs in a CE course. To close out of this screen, click on the “X” that is within the Image Adjustments box.
Go To Discussion
This feature is to use to take you to the actual discussion thread the picture has been posted to. This comes in handy in case you close your message board window accidentally and want to comment on the picture that was posted.
Board Preferences
This takes you to the MyVSPN console where you can change your board preferences for viewing the VSPN message boards. Here is a link to more about personalizing your boards: Personalize your Boards FAQ
Download
This feature allows you to download and save graphics or PDF files that are uploaded to the message boards. You can save the files in different sizes as pictured below. Reminder, these images are copyrighted to VIN and to the instructor or we have permission to use them in VIN/VSPN. They are not allowed to be used elsewhere without the expressed written permission of VIN.
Print
This feature allows you to print the graphics or PDF file that you are looking at. You have the option of printing all (each will print on a separate page at this time) or choosing to print just the graphic or PDF you are looking at and a choice of sizes to print. Of course, the higher the number, the more pixels are going to be printed so the quality will be better. Also keep in mind the higher the pixels, the more ink you will use if you use an inkjet printer.
Copy URL
Use this feature to copy the URL of the slideshow in case you want to access just the slideshow in the future it or cross post to another MB thread. The system will convert it into a VIN short link. After the pop up you see in the following graphic finishes, another pop up will let you know when the link has been converted. It will then be on your clipboard and you can paste it to the destination you want it to be at.
Add to MyStuff
By clicking on this link, you can add the URL of the slideshow to your MyVSPN Console/ MyStuff area for easy access.
Open New Window
This feature is mainly used within the Unity classroom/chatroom. When you click this from the Unity rooms, it will open a bigger VIN Presenter so you can view a larger view of the slide. With slideshows within message boards, the Open New Window feature will only open a VIN Presenter the same size as the original Presenter that was launched. Outside of Unity, you can resize the VIN Presenter by using the little dots in the bottom right hand corner. You can click on those when after your cursor turns to a double headed arrow and then drag and drop to make the VIN Presenter a larger size.
