Practice Sessions: In order to prepare you for a successful experience

Level and Prerequisites:
This
basic course will be open to veterinarians,
veterinary technicians/technologists, and veterinary support staff
actively interested in using QuickBooks more efficiently and effectively.
It is highly recommended that you are either currently using QuickBooks
in your practice or are familiar with the program.

This course has been submitted for RACE approval for veterinarians
and veterinary technicians/technologists.
This course has been submitted to VHMA for CVPM credit.
Course Information:
This is an introductory course in the use of QuickBooks with the veterinary
professional in mind. This course is designed to instruct veterinarians,
practice managers, office managers and bookkeepers, how to set up their chart
of accounts, properly enter transactions, and correctly format the financial
statements to maximize the information available in QuickBooks. Correct formatting
and data entry will allow more informed financial management decisions.
Week 1 (Real Time Session September 14, 2016):

- explain how using QuickBooks can benefit a veterinary practice.
- setup QuickBooks.
- setup the QuickBooks Chart of Accounts.
Week 2 (Real Time Session September 21, 2016):
Entering Transactions and Using QuickBooks

Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to
- use the QuickBooks Vendor Menu.
- use the QuickBooks Banking Menu.
- select the appropriate items for entry in QuickBooks from the Practice Management Software.
- use the QuickBooks Reports Menu.
- use a variety of other useful QuickBooks features.
Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required
to earn a certificate of completion for the course.

Course Materials: Course materials will be available
in the course library prior to each Real Time Session.
Required Textbook(s): There is no required textbook for this course.
Recommended Software: You need to have access to, or a working knowledge of,
QuickBooks Version 2014 or newer. If you have a prior version of QuickBooks or QuickBooks Online

About the Presenter:
Karen Osborne is a Certified Public Account and a manager in the veterinary consulting
division of Lacher McDonald and Co., CPAs. Lacher McDonald provides business consulting, tax,
and accounting services to companion animal practices across the country. Karen currently works
with many veterinary practices nationwide providing a wide array of accounting and consulting services.

VIN member and non-member veterinarians. Veterinarians enrolling in a VSPN CE course
must be a VIN member. Veterinary support staff must be a VSPN member to enroll in a
VSPN CE or a VIN CE course open to VSPN member enrollment.
