This
advanced course will be open to veterinarians
actively interested in nutrition topics for obesity, diabetes,
cutaneous adverse food reaction and cardiac and liver disease.
VIN CE Course: Open to veterinarians.
This course is approved by RACE for veterinarians (RACE #22-13385).
Course Information:
In this course we will review the aspects of the disease process
that can be affected through dietary changes and will cover goals
for nutritional modification. We will also provide key nutritional factors,
goals for feeding management and cover selecting a diet +/- dietary supplements
and a feeding plan for these patients.
Week 1 (Real Time Session January 25, 2016):
Obesity and Diabetes

Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to
- Discuss dietary management of dogs and cats with obesity and diabetes.
- Select a diet and feeding plan for dogs and cats with obesity and diabetes.

Week 2 (Real Time Session February 1, 2016):
Cutaneous Adverse Food Reactions, Cardiac Disease and Liver

Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to
- Discuss dietary management of dogs and cats with cutaneous adverse
food reactions and cardiac and liver disease.
- Select a diet and feeding plan for dogs and cats with cutaneous adverse
food reactions and cardiac and liver disease.
- Understand key nutritional factors for dogs and cats cutaneous adverse
food reactions and cardiac and liver disease.
Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required
to earn a certificate of completion for the course.

in the course library prior to each Real Time Session.
Required Textbook(s): There is no required textbook for this course.
About the Presenter:
Dr. Catherine Lenox graduated from veterinary school at the University of Missouri in 2007.
She then went on to complete a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Colorado
State University and a small animal nutrition residency at the Virginia-Maryland Regional
College of Veterinary Medicine. She was board-certified by the American College of
Veterinary Nutrition in 2011. Dr. Lenox is also certified in veterinary acupuncture.
After three years in specialty practice, Dr. Lenox joined Royal Canin USA in 2014.
She is currently Manager of Scientific Affairs at Royal Canin.

VIN member and non-member veterinarians. Veterinarians enrolling in a VSPN CE course
must be a VIN member. Veterinary support staff must be a VSPN member to enroll in a
