Level and Prerequisites:
This
basic course will be open to veterinarians and veterinary technicians/technologists,
actively interested in large animal necropsy techniques, lesions, and post-mortem changes.
MULT214-0316: Basic Necropsy Techniques is a prerequisite for this course.

Course Information:
This course is designed to familiarize the attendee with large animal necropsy specifics,
common post-mortem changes, the meaning of pattern in lesion recognition and types of lesions.
By the end of the course, the attendee should be able to recognize common lesions, exudates,
form a morphologic diagnosis and perform large animal necropsy.
Week 1 (Real Time Session April 18, 2016):
Large Animal Necropsies

Format: Audio
Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to
- perform basic necropsy of a large animal.
- choose a biopsy specimen for submission and preserve it.
- understand the meaning and importance of distribution in lesion recognition.
- recognize the common post-mortem changes (that are not lesions).
- recognize the common lesions and understand what can be learned from them.
Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required
to earn a certificate of completion for the course.

About the Presenter:
Dr. Eric Snook graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002.
He completed a residency in anatomic pathology at LSU in 2009. He received his PhD at Tulane University
in 2013 and is currently studying muscular dystrophy as a post-doctoral research associate at TAMU.
