COURSE DESCRIPTION
For this module in basic equine reproductive ultrasonography, the following topics will be discussed:
Week 1 (November 4):
Basic principles of ultrasonography. This session will briefly introduce the required equipment for ultrasonography of the reproductive organs in the mare and stallion. An overview of the common artifacts and technical problems will also be presented.

Week 2 (November 11):
The focus on this week will be on ultrasonographic anatomy of the ovary and uterus in the non pregnant mare. A detailed description of ultrasonographic changes of ovarian structures and echotexture of the uterus and cervix during the estrous cycle will be given.

Week 3 (November 18):
The focus of this week will be on ultrasonographic imaging of the embryo and pregnant uterus. Early pregnancy diagnosis and features of the embryo pre and postfixation will be presented. Development of the conceptus throughout the gestation will be presented in relationship to ultrasonographic evaluation by transrectal and percutanuous methods. Normal and abnormal characteristics of the mammary gland in the non-pregnant, pregnant and postparturient mare

Week 4 (November 25):
The lectures will focus on ultrasonographic imaging of the testicles and the accessory sex glands in the normal stallion.

COURSE WITHDRAWAL AND REFUND POLICY: Withdrawal prior to the listed start date of a course entitles the registrant to a complete refund or a credit toward a future VIN CE course, whichever is preferred. Withdrawal within 1 week after the listed start date (i.e. including no more than one real-time session) entitles the registrant to a credit toward any future VIN CE course. (Does not apply to courses with only one real-time session.) After the first real-time session, a registrant may withdraw due to special circumstances and receive prorated credit towards a future VIN course. These requests will be handled on an individual basis. The amount of the prorated credit will be determined based on 65% of the time remaining in the course at the time of withdrawal. It is not possible to withdraw retroactively.
