COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course in Veterinary Dental Techniques is designed to allow discussions of current techniques used in veterinary dentistry. Veterinarians practicing all levels of veterinary dentistry are invited to participate, from the veterinarian just interested in getting more information in veterinary dentistry to the Board Certified Veterinary Dentist.
The second module of the series will discuss how to take and interpret dental radiographs and simple and surgical extractions.

Week 1 (10/9):
Chapter 3, p 131 - 166
Indications for dental radiography, normal dental anatomy, taking and developing veterinary dental radiographs, storage of dental films, quality control & evaluation of dental radiographs, problem solving (Holmstrom)
Week 2 (10/16):
Chapter 3, p 166 - 174
Dental radiographic interpretation: periodontics, endodontics, orthodontics, FORLs, oral neoplasia (Matson)
Week 3 (10/23):
Chapter 4, p 175 - 215
Oral examination, stages of periodontal disease, prophylaxis procedure, use of ultrasonic scalers, hand instrument techniques (Kressin)
Week 4 (10/30):
Chapter 4, p 216 - 232
Probing, diagnostics, homecare instruction & products, VOHC, gingival surgery, biopsy (Holmstrom)

Withdrawal within 1 week after the listed start date (i.e. including no more than one real-time session) entitles the registrant to a credit toward any future VIN CE course. (Does not apply to courses with only one real-time session.) After the first real-time session, a registrant may withdraw due to special circumstances and receive prorated credit towards a future VIN course. These requests will be handled on an individual basis. The amount of the prorated credit will be determined based on 65% of the time remaining in the course at the time of withdrawal.
