Practice Sessions: In order to prepare you for a successful experience
in your CE course, we request you attend a Practice Session prior to the first
Real Time Session. Please arrive promptly at the start time; each Practice Session
is up to 1 hour in length.

Level and Prerequisites:
This
basic course will be open to
veterinarians, veterinary technicians/technologists, and veterinary support staff
actively interested in feline socialization and the setting up and
running of Kitten Kindy® classes.
VIN CE Course: Open to veterinarians.
Veterinary staff may also enroll provided they are associated with an enrolled veterinarian.
Veterinary staff need to provide the name of their veterinarian in the comment section
during the enrollment process.
This course has been submitted for RACE approval for
veterinarians and veterinary technicians/technologists.
Course Information:
This course will cover how to set up and run Kitten Kindy® classes.
It will help you understand how kittens learn, the importance of appropriate
socialization, recognize normal feline behavior and provide advice to kitten
owners on some common feline behavior issues. By running these classes it should
increase the likelihood that the kitten and owner will have a strong bond with
each other as well as with your practice.

Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to
- provide a step by step guide to running the Kitten Kindy® classes.
- teach owners how to interact with their cat so they have a manageable adult cat.
- understand how to train and socialise kittens.
Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required
to earn a certificate of completion for the course.

in the course library prior to each Real Time Session.

About the Presenter:
Kersti Seksel is a registered veterinary specialist in Behavioral
Medicine in Australia, USA and Europe. She works in two referral practices seeing
behavior cases in Sydney and all round in Australia. She teaches the Distance Education
course in Behavioral Medicine for the Centre of Veterinary Education at the University
of Sydney, presents education courses all over the world in behavioral medicine, and
writes for scientific journals, textbooks, as well as popular magazines. She is a
regular presenter in the media and currently chairs the Animal Welfare Advisory Council
for NSW Government and loves being part of the wider VIN community.

- Enrollment qualifications: VIN CE courses are open to
VIN member and non-member veterinarians. Veterinarians enrolling in a VSPN CE course
must be a VIN member. Veterinary support staff must be a VSPN member to enroll in a
VSPN CE or a VIN CE course open to VSPN member enrollment.
- Each enrollee must be able to receive emails from @vspn.org
and @vin.com addresses. Email is our major form of communication with participants;
personal emails are highly recommended rather than clinic/hospital email addresses.
- Each person is individually responsible for his/her own registration.
